Mission Statement
“To create a balance between man and his environment by educating, providing and protecting the natural resources of Appanoose County.”
Appanoose County Conservation was voted into existence in 1959 by the citizens of Appanoose County. The ACCB currently manages land in the form of parks, trails, campgrounds, and public hunting areas. In addition to those areas, the board operates an environmental education center and has a growing environmental education program. The board provides educational programs to school, youth, and civic groups as well as the general public.

ACCB Areas
- Sharon Bluffs State Park Sharon Bluffs includes hiking trails, campgrounds, playgrounds, shelter houses and a premier nature center, which includes elk, deer, and other wildlife for your viewing pleasure. Encompassing 144 acres of ground, located east of Centerville on the bluffs above the Chariton River.
- Lelah Bradley Lelah Bradley Park offers hiking trails, shelter houses, campgrounds and playgrounds. Fishing and boating are allowed on the upper and lower reservoir. Hunting is allowed in some areas as well as picnicking, bird watching, and other wholesome recreational pursuits. Located on the southwest side of Centerville.
- Ross Wildlife Area Encompassing 434 acres south of Cincinnati, The Ross Wildlife Area provides great hunting opportunities, as well as fishing, birdwatching, and other chances to enjoy nature. The area includes mature timber, uplands, riparian areas and prairie grounds.
